Most dermal fillers are designed to last 4 to 12 months before being gradually and harmlessly absorbed by the skin. Dr. Buonassisi is one of the few surgeons in the Vancouver area to be Board Certified by the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons and is also Board Certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery. He received his M.D. degree from The University of British Columbia after completing his undergraduate studies at McGill University in Montreal, Canada.

JUVÉDERM Injectable Gel
JUVÉDERM Injectable Gel is a filler from the makers of BOTOX Cosmetic that contains naturally-derived hyaluronic acid, a substance also found in the body's connective tissues. Hyaluronic acid binds with water molecules in the skin to create volume and smooth wrinkles. Dr. Buonassisi uses JUVÉDERM to treat nasolabial folds (the lines that run from the corners of the nose to the corners of the mouth) as well as marionette lines that run from the corners of the mouth down to the chin.
Restylane
Restylane is another hyaluronic acid gel used to treat wrinkles around the nose and mouth. Independent research suggests that in addition to increasing skin volume, the hyaluronic acid formulation in Restylane actually encourages new collagen growth by stimulating fibroblasts that are responsible for producing collagen. This means that after several treatments, enhanced skin quality can be achieved even after the hyaluronic acid has been absorbed by the skin.
EVOLENCE
EVOLENCE is made from natural collagen that directly replaces collagen which has degraded as a result of the aging process. It immediately enhances and refreshes the appearance of the face by softening lines and wrinkles, and also can be used to restore facial contour in areas such as the cheeks that have lost volume. Dr. Buonassisi has seen EVOLENCE last a year or longer for some patients, making it a convenient and cost-effective way to achieve lasting rejuvenation.
Bio-Alcamid
Bio-Alcamid is a synthetic filler focused on correcting small and large soft tissue deficits. Dr. Buonassisi injects the product beneath the skin to replace depleted fat tissue and collagen in order to restore the natural fullness and contours of the face. Once injected, Bio-Alcamid becomes surrounded by collagen, isolating it so that it is not absorbed by the body. Results are long-lasting and treatment is particularly effective for patients who have facial lipoatrophy (facial wasting) that can be the result of medications and aging.
Treatment is very simple and takes only minutes to perform. In most cases, patients do not feel a significant amount of discomfort, but Dr. Buonassisi can provide you with a topical anaesthetic or local anaesthetic to numb the area if needed.
Recovery & Results
Another popular benefit of dermal fillers is the immediate results they offer. Just a few minutes in Dr. Buonassisi's office can take several years off the appearance of your face. Most people feel comfortable returning to their day's activities right after their visit, but some minor bruising or swelling may be apparent for the first day following treatment.
