He received his M.D. degree from The University of British Columbia after completing his undergraduate studies at McGill University in Montreal, Canada.

Preparing for Your Procedure
Most people have to do very little to prepare for their facial liposuction. Preparation generally requires planning for your post-surgical needs. You may need to have someone assist you following surgery, drive you home and stay with you the first night. Depending on the areas treated during your facial liposuction procedure, your face may be sore and swollen, and you may have incisions inside your mouth. As a result, you may want to stock up on softer foods that minimize chewing. Dr. Buonassisi will provide addition pre-surgical guidelines tailored to your individual situation during the consultation.
Facial Liposuction in Vancouver
Dr. Buonassisi performs facial liposuction with the patient under local or "twilight" anaesthesia. The procedure itself takes an hour or less to perform for most people, but surgical time will be extended if facial liposuction is combined with other surgeries such as a Vancouver face lift or brow lift. Fat deposits in the cheeks can be accessed using incisions placed inside the mouth, creating no external scarring. When performing liposuction for the area under the chin or the neck, Dr. Buonassisi makes a small incision in the natural crease below the chin where it is easily hidden. After recovery, this incision is usually imperceptible.
Through these incisions, Dr. Buonassisi inserts a small medical wand known as a cannula to break up and remove excess fat. He can also tighten the chin and neck muscles if needed and even remove a small amount of skin to create a subtly "lifted' appearance. After the procedure is complete, your face is wrapped with a pressure dressing to protect your results and hold the skin in place.
Recovering from Surgery
Most patients find that their recovery after facial liposuction is straightforward and uneventful. The surgical pressure dressing Dr. Buonassisi applies to complete the procedure will need to be worn for 3 to 4 days after your surgery. You will then return to our office for a follow-up visit where dressing, bandages, and stitches are removed. In almost all cases, over the counter pain medication is all that is needed to control discomfort.
Dr. Buonassisi advises his patients to get plenty of rest and take several days off from their normal activities so that they can maximize their post-surgical results. Many patients take 3 to 4 days away from the office, especially if they would rather avoid discussing their procedure with coworkers. Some bruising and swelling should be expected but in almost all cases these after-effects resolve themselves within 7 to 10 days. A small amount of residual swelling may remain for a few months, but you will soon be able to enjoy the full benefits of your slimmer facial contour.

At your first follow-up visit, when your dressings are removed, you will be able to notice immediately your more sculpted and toned appearance. The goal of this procedure is not to make you look like an entirely new person, but instead to rejuvenate your appearance and help you feel more confident about your slimmer face and neck.
